This harpsichord is inspired by the very interesting work of 18th century Parisian makers, Jean-Henry Hemsch and Nicolas Blanchet. In the designing this instrument, I have incorporated, among other elements, the box-structure of an instrument of Hemsch (1761; Musée du Conservatoire de Paris) and Blanchet's string scale. My goal has been to recreate a sonority appropriate for the 18th century French repertoire, with all its charm and lightness.
